Sheena N. Burrell is a seasoned IT executive with a proven track record of driving innovation and leading transformative initiatives across federal government organizations. She currently serves as the Chief Innovation Officer for the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), where she oversees strategic innovation initiatives, fosters a culture of creativity, and leverages emerging technologies to enhance FDIC’s mission-critical operations.
Prior to joining FDIC, Sheena served as the Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA), managing a $130 million IT portfolio and leading a team of over 450 professionals. Her tenure at NARA was marked by significant achievements, including the modernization of IT infrastructure, implementation of a Zero Trust Architecture, and integration of cutting-edge technologies like artificial intelligence and robotic process automation.
Sheena has also held leadership roles at NASA and the Social Security Administration, gaining extensive experience in IT portfolio management, strategic planning, and operational excellence. Known for her visionary leadership, she is an advisor on IT policy and a passionate advocate for leveraging technology to drive government innovation and efficiency.
Sheena holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Towson University and advanced certifications in AI, Technology Business Management, Contracting, and Scaled Agile Framework.
