OFFICE OF PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT (OPM): Protecting HR data of current and retired federal employees

Challenge: As the HR provider for the federal government, OPM manages extremely sensitive personal data for millions of current and retired federal employees. OPM must be equipped to protect this data and ensure the resiliency of its services.

Approach & Outcomes: With TMF funding, OPM was able to kickstart its zero trust work beginning with the addition of new cloud-based solutions and a data classification effort. OPM plans to continue this work by decommissioning legacy, on-premise technology and moving towards cloud-based technology, resulting in significant cost avoidance.
